Block pages from the GoogleBot with a Robots Meta Tag Entry

According to

at:

http://ask.officelive.com/smallbusiness/qna/t/6954.aspx

It is completely possible to use a robots metatag to prevent the indexing of particular pages.  A great reason to do this would be to avoid the Google Duplicate Content Penalty.

The hex equivalent of the nofollow command is as follows:

%22%20%2F%3E %3CMETA name=%22robots%22 content=%22NOINDEX,NOFOLLOW

Paste this text into the Keywords Metatag Area of Page Properties.

Article Posting to Increase Site Traffic

Posting articles online on article submission sites are one of the steps you need to take to get inbound links to your site and clicks.

For each article, you may require ten completely reworded versions for different submission purposes.  One version goes on your site.  Another three go to top Article Submission sites.  Another two should go on your Facebook and Myspace accounts.  If you have a video version of your article even better, because it can go on your YouTube channel and podcast distribution. Each of these channels must have links back to your site and will bring about an increase in site traffic.

Search engines have Duplicate Content Penalties which affect the ranking of sites posting content available elsewhere on the Web.  Those hoping to increase site traffic through plagiarism will fail.  These penalties apply to all posted material, so to maintain relevance, the uniqueness of the articles are very important. Just make sure to write material especially for the occasion, or have this material written for you.

Once you have all of this material posted, it is important to submit this to RSS Feed Aggregator sites including Squidoo and Hubpages.  Google Feeds is a good tool too and can put your podcasts up for you.

Here are some of the top article posting sites.

Removing Horizontal Scrollbar from iFrames and <div> tags

Recently using Google gadgets and div tags I have had a problem with the horizontal scrollbar appearing no matter how wide I made the page.

I have a solution:

<iframe src=”http://url.com” width="700px" height="500px" frameborder="0" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" hspace="0" vspace="0" scrolling="yes" style="overflow-x: hidden;"></iframe>

The same two attributes, scrolling="yes" style="overflow-x: hidden;”  can be used in  a div tag i.e.:

<div width="700px" height="500px" scrolling="yes" style="overflow-x: hidden;> </div>

According to Nielsen, the Usability expert, horizontal scrollbars make spatial visualization difficult because the data can move in two planes, adding to the visual complexity of the element.

Office Live Web Connector Windows Issues

have found a solution to many of your problems with the Office Live Web Connector.  A lot of you have tried the update, downloaded the connector, and deleted passports associated with your user accounts.  Microsoft has told me that this is not compatible with a 64-bit OS, and was unsure if it was compatible with IE8.  Well, I beg to differ.

The following support is for Vista based systems (All Editions), and can also work with Windows XP (All Editions)

1. Click on Start

2. In the search bar at the bottom of the list, type "services.msc"

3. Scroll down till you see WebClient.  If this is not started or disabled, the connector will not work.

4. Right click on the service, and click properties.

5. It might say not started, go ahead and click "Start"

6.  On start up type select "Automatic"

I run a computer and internet service repair, and it was very embarrassing to call Microsoft for support, but they were unable to tell me the solution, other than my system is not compatible.  I finally found a solution myself.

Please leave feedback and let me know if this works for you as well.  If this does not work, please email me at buddy@mcclellandpc.com and I can try to troubleshoot the issue with you one on one.
